Transmissive LCDs: always require a backlight to be visible and provide the highest brightness display as well as handle high-resolution images or videos. They are best suited for applications in low lighting conditions where direct sunlight viewing is NOT involved.
Reflective LCDs: are easily read in bright sunlight and since they do not have a backlight, power consumption is reduced and battery life can be extended so they are best suited for portable devices.
Transflective LCDs: have both reflecting and transmitting properties and offer the most versatile viewing in direct sunlight or when combined with a backlight can be viewed in low light conditions. They're commonly used in industrial and medical equipment, where it's essential to have high visibility in any lighting conditions.

Most of our designs will remain in production for at least 5-7 years. If a design goes through an engineering change or reaches End-Of-Life, we always do our best to make our next revision equivalent to the previous version.

Yes, all of our displays comply with the latest RoHS, REACH, and CMRT provisions. For more information view our certifications

RoHS = Restriction of Hazardous Substances
Newhaven Display is committed to be compliant with the provisions of the European Parliament and Council Directive for the use of certain Hazardous Substance in Electrical and Electronic Equipment and regulations promulgated there under, collectively the "RoHS Regulations". To find out more information, please reach out to us with the complete Newhaven Display part number.

Our displays are used in various industries including Medical, Test & Measurement, Aeronautical, Restaurant Appliances, and commercial products.

We design our displays to be long lifecycle products that can be used in a customer's OEM product for many years.

Yes, custom size and thickness cover glass can be provided as an option. We can also include custom graphics as well as your company logo.

Contact our Engineering team by emailing nhtech@newhavendisplay.com for more info and to discuss your requirements.

Yes, we offer two options to evaluate our displays:

1. Order an evaluation kit. This kit includes all the necessary hardware and software needed to drive the display. The kit can be modified by the customer, used for extended tests, stress tests, etc.

2. Request a demonstration / demo box. This is a plug-n-play unit that is intended for visual evaluation only. The demo box should NOT be modified or undergo any testing environment.

Troubleshooting

We have written an article in our blog with all kinds of helpful tips for cleaning your display. Read the article HERE. You can also watch a helpful video which provides 10 tips for proper display handling, HERE in our video library. And, you can also review our Product Usage Guidelines.pdf document.

You can perform a Soft Reset by re-initializing the display or perform a Hard Reset by toggling the reset pin (if available) or turning the device OFF and ON again.

ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) is a temporary flow of static electricity buildup between two objects caused by contact or as they approach one another. The flow of charge is evident by the common spark, or ESD discharge we are all familiar with. Several events are happening all the time that we can't see or feel. To learn more about ESD, read the full Article in our blog.

You need to convert the integer value to ASCII value.

To draw numbers on the display you can use the itoa() function from stdlib.h like the following Arduino sketch code. Itoa() converts an integer to ASCII data and stores it in a passed-in character array.

For instance, this example code prints "34" to a character display.

int test = 34;
char buffer[3];
itoa(test, buffer, 10);

write(buffer[0]);
write(buffer[1]);

For graphic displays that do not support character mode, a 2-dimensional array can be used to define and draw character data. 2-D Array Declaration

One of our graphic OLED example programs creates a simple 2-D Array to hold a few ASCII characters and a function to print a character to the screen.

Use a potentiometer to verify that the contrast voltage (VLCD) is set correctly as seen on the display's datasheet.
Verify proper initialization sequence and delays are being used.
Check the hardware for proper connections and expected voltages.
Check for proper pull-up resistors (if applicable)
