About the Role

Newhaven Display is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Electronics Test Fixture Technician to manage, design, build, and support Golden Samples, Demos & Test Fixtures used in our production environment and by our customers. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of electronics, manufacturing, and problem-solving—translating product requirements into reliable, repeatable test solutions. This candidate must also have strong mechanical ability.

You will work closely with Applications Engineers, Production, and Quality teams to develop fixtures that ensure product performance, streamline assembly processes, and support customer-specific testing needs.

What You’ll Do:

Test Fixture Design & Development:

  • Design and develop electronic test fixtures for display modules and related products.
  • Create schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation for fixture builds.
  • Select appropriate components (connectors, switches, microcontrollers, interfaces, etc.).
  • Develop fixtures for functional testing, validation, and production use.

Build & Prototyping:

  • Assemble and wire test fixtures, including soldering, breadboarding, and enclosure integration.
  • Build prototypes and iterate designs based on testing feedback.
  • Ensure fixtures are robust, repeatable, and suitable for production environments.

Testing & Debugging:

  • Troubleshoot fixtures and devices at the component and system level.
  • Use lab equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer, etc.) to diagnose issues.
  • Validate fixture performance and ensure accuracy and consistency of test results.

Production & Customer Support:

  • Support production teams by maintaining and improving existing test fixtures.
  • Assist in diagnosing production issues related to test equipment or product failures.
  • Prepare fixtures and documentation for customer use when required.
  • Train internal teams on proper fixture usage and troubleshooting.

Documentation & Process Improvement:

  • Create clear build instructions, schematics, and user guides for fixtures.
  • Create clear processes for how and when to confirm Golden Sample, Demo, and Test Fixture validity (matching spec).
  • Create a BOM for all general components (enclosures, cables, connectors, etc.) to build demos and fixtures.
  • Maintain organized documentation and revision control.
  • Identify opportunities to improve test processes, reduce errors, and increase efficiency.

Fixture Management & Organization:

  • Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of Golden Samples, Demos, and Test Fixtures including tracking location, date log, status, and availability for production and engineering use.
  • ERP Documentation: Create and manage fixture records within the ERP system, including part numbers, revisions, BOMs, and associated documentation.
  • Storage & Handling: Ensure fixtures are properly stored, labeled, and protected to maintain functionality and longevity.
  • Revision Control: Track and document updates or modifications to fixtures, ensuring accurate version control and traceability.
  • Availability Coordination: Coordinate with Engineering and Production teams to ensure fixtures are available, calibrated (if applicable), and ready for use when needed.
  • Lifecycle Management: Identify outdated, damaged, or obsolete fixtures and manage repair, replacement, or retirement processes.

What You’ll Bring

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: 2–5+ years of hands-on experience in electronics, test, or manufacturing environments.
  • Primary Skills:
    • Strong understanding of electronics fundamentals and component-level troubleshooting.
    • Experience building and debugging circuits and electronic assemblies.
    • Must be mechanically inclined — use of kitting materials, small power tools, drills, saws, etc.
    • Ability to read and create electronic schematics and wiring diagrams.
    • Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, power supplies, etc.).
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Experience with microcontrollers (Arduino, PIC, ARM, or similar) is a plus.
    • Familiarity with communication interfaces (I²C, SPI, UART, USB, GPIO).
    • Basic programming in C/C++ or scripting for test automation is a plus.
    • Experience with CAD or schematic tools (Altium, KiCad, Eagle, etc.) is a plus.
    • Experience designing or building test fixtures or automated test equipment (ATE).
    • Familiarity with display technologies (LCD, OLED, TFT) is a plus.
    • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
    • Mechanical aptitude (enclosures, mounting, fixture durability considerations).

What Success Looks Like

  • Reliable, repeatable test fixtures deployed to production.
  • Reduced production errors and improved test efficiency.
  • Clear, usable documentation for internal teams and customers.
  • Fast turnaround on troubleshooting and fixture improvements.

Why You’ll Thrive Here
