Production Engineer

Job Description
This position is for someone with a passion for manufacturing and process improvement. Based out of our Elgin, IL headquarters, this individual will work within Newhaven Display's production department to streamline our build processes.
The Production Engineer will be responsible for the development and implementation of product assembly standard work, problem-solving methods, process improvements, and cost saving opportunities in production.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand product drawings/schematics from our engineers.
- Lead problem solving efforts to resolve production problems.
- Communicate with our quality and engineering teams to drive process improvements.
- Develop proper manufacturing, testing, and quality control standard work.
- Conduct in process checks on the production line to ensure standard work is followed and work-in-process, finished products, and packing meet quality requirements.
- Testing of electrical fixtures. Conduct final inspection on finished products and record test data.
- Develop and improve monthly reports to quantify Production improvement and highlight areas requiring additional attention.
- Determine the process capabilities and outgoing quality levels of all major products.
- Identify process improvement and optimization opportunities.
- Assist in the development of training programs, process planning, and policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BS in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Two or more years of process or production management or experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, techniques, and philosophies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, capable of completing tasks with limited supervision.
- Superior attention to detail, timely and persistent follow-up is essential.
- Working knowledge of soldering applications and techniques.
- Ability to read electronic schematics and have good working knowledge of electronics theory is a plus.
- Experience with LCD, VFD, OLED or TFT display technologies is a plus.
- Proven ability to work in a dynamic environment, developing flexible solutions to meet evolving business needs.
- Demonstrated excellence in project management skills with a strong commitment to customer service.
